Orientation Day

Wednesday 26 August & Wednesday 28 October 2026, 8:30am–1:15pm

Starting secondary school is a big step — for your child, and for you. New classrooms, new teachers, new friends. It can feel exciting. It can also feel unfamiliar.

That's why we don't leave it to Day One of Year 7.

You're invited to our Year 7 2027 Orientation Days: two warm, practical mornings where incoming students — both current Brightwaters families and those still getting to know us — walk the campus, try real secondary subjects, and begin friendships that make the first day of High School feel like a continuation, not a leap into the unknown.

Here's what your child will experience:

  • A welcome from Principal Mrs Anway and Mrs Katie Kelly, Head of Secondary
  • A Q&A with student leaders who have already made the jump to High School
  • Hands-on tasters in Art, Technology, Science, English and PDHPE
  • A wellbeing session that helps them feel ready for the adolescent years
  • A BBQ lunch with future classmates — no packed lunch required
  • Time to find their way around campus, so Year 7 starts with familiar faces and familiar places

Time: 8:30am–1:15pm on both days

Wednesday 26 August — breakfast, then a taste of Secondary

Parents and students, start together. A light breakfast is provided from 8:30am — a chance to connect with key staff and hear from Principal Mrs Anway and Head of Secondary Mrs Katie Kelly. Parents are welcome to leave at 9:10am — handy if you need to get to work. Students stay on for a Q&A with our student leadership team, Art and Technology tasters, and a dedicated wellbeing session.

Wednesday 28 October — workshops, and a campus that feels like theirs

Students return for a second morning of Secondary life, with workshops in Science, English and PDHPE. Friendships deepen. The routines start to feel familiar. By the time they leave, the campus is already beginning to feel like home.

What to wear and bring

Sports uniform for the day: current Brightwaters Year 6 students wear the College sports uniform; visiting students wear the sports uniform from their current school. Please pack a school hat, a water bottle and morning tea. We will take care of a BBQ lunch.

The day finishes at 1:15pm. Current Brightwaters students return to Year 6 after lunch. Visiting students can be collected then.
